Matrimony

The marital union of man and woman, which is founded and endowed with its own proper laws by the Creator, is by its very nature ordered to the communion and good of the couple and to the generation and education of children. According to the original divine plan this conjugal union is indissoluble, as Jesus Christ affirmed: “What God has joined together, let no man put asunder” (Mark 10:9)

The Mission San Diego is a popular place for weddings. As a result, priests assigned to the Mission are able to commit to the marriage preparation and celebration of matrimony of registered, active parishioners.

If you are not a registered, active parishioner of the Mission San Diego, then we encourage you to pursue marriage preparation and marriage at the parish nearest your home or where you regularly attend Sunday Mass.

Parishioners of parishes other than the Mission San Diego may be married at the Mission. Couples must provide their own deacon or priest. Priests and deacons without an assignment in the Diocese of San Diego must provide a letter of good standing.

In the Diocese of San Diego, couples should plan on a nine-month (minimum) period for marriage preparation. Please review the following document carefully for marriages at the Mission San Diego.
