Our Mission parishioners are invited to attend a presentation by Professor Peter Wadhams. This presentation will be held at Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 7713 Girard Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037, at 7 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Professor Wadhams is a professor of Physics from Cambridge University, who is currently visiting the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. He is also a member of the Scientific Commission for the Holy Shroud, affiliated with the Diocese of Turin.

In his presentation he will be discussing what is known about the history of the Shroud, the latest findings regarding dating of the Shroud (and why earlier radiocarbon dating results were incorrect), how the image was formed, and the circumstances of the image itself, which leads to the conclusion that the image was the result of a brief burst of intense electromagnetic radiation. The feeling is growing among scientists that here, for the first time, we have scientific evidence of a miraculous event which may have been the Resurrection itself.
