Dear Parishioners and Friends,

As you may be aware, earlier in the year Governor Newsom announced that indoor gatherings are to be suspended indefinitely.  Since worship services were included in the ruling, Masses at Mission San Diego were suspended as of 12:01am July 15.

OUTDOOR Masses, however, are allowed now and we have been diligently working this week to see how, when and where this would be possible on our Mission campus.

I am happy to announce that we will RESUME Masses this weekend OUTDOORS in the Main Mission Courtyard.  Initially, we will have a new Mass schedule and we will make adjustments as needed.  Our primary goal, as always, is to provide a safe worship environment for our parishioners and staff.

Some key points to be aware of:

1. Weekend Mass Schedule:

Saturday Vigil 5:30pm;

Sunday at 7:30am and 9:00am; 10:30am (in Spanish), and 5:30pm (and beginning September 27 there will be a 12 noon Sunday Mass).

2. Weekday Mass will be at 7:00am and 5:30pm Monday through Friday. (There is no 7:00am Mass Saturdays at this time.)
3. All Masses may have unlimited capacity, provided 6 ft. social distancing is observed at all times between individuals and/or households.  Facial coverings or masks are required.
4. Chairs are available and will be arranged in groups of 1, 2 and 3.  We request that you find the appropriate grouping of chairs for the number in your party so no chair goes unused.  Chairs will be sanitized prior to each Mass.
5. Extra chairs will also be available.  You are welcome to move chairs to a shaded or more comfortable area if you wish.
6. Due to limited SHADED seating, you may wish to bring an umbrella, hat and sun screen.
7. We will use the Communion Screens that were implemented at Saint Francis Chapel and Mass will (continue to) end with the Distribution of Holy Communion.  Please note the floor tiles for social distancing as you approach the Communion stations.
8. Our online Mass will continue to be available each week.
9. Please note, excessive heat or rain may impact this Mass schedule.  Check our website or call the office if weather becomes inclement.
10. In your charity, we ask that the Courtyard parking lot be reserved for Handicap and elderly parking.  All others, please use alternate lots.

We continue to be grateful for your goodness and support during these trying days.  The implementations we have made at this time will be subject to change as needed.
