On Wednesday, September 23 at 1:15 p.m., His Holiness, Pope Francis, canonized Fr. Junípero Serra at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C.

In commemoration of this historic event, we will have a special Liturgy at the noon Mass, Sunday, September 27 here at Mission San Diego. In order to accommodate more people, this liturgy will take place in St. Francis Chapel. Following the liturgy there will be a procession to the Mission Church with a relic of Saint Junípero Serra which will be placed on display for private prayer and devotion throughout the day. (Please note: there will be no noon Mass in the Mission Church, only at St. Francis Chapel).
